Eva Mendes Says She is Protective of Relationship With Ryan Gosling

A fledgling relationship is always a somewhat stressful thing, and actress Eva Mendes may be famous and fancy, but she still has the same concerns as anyone during those early days.

While it’s easy to envy celebrities for their fabulous lifestyles and hot boyfriends like Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes reminds us that it’s not all red carpets and swag bags. Could you imagine being super into a guy or girl and having speculative news stories such as the ones that appear on this very blog posted all the time, perhaps artificially accelerating your relationship, precipitating a conversation you’re not ready for or otherwise just exposing your romantic affairs?

I mean really, think about how awkward even Facebook is for all of us when it comes to dating? This is like Facebook times a million. Actress Eva Mendes was in the gossip columns recently after it was reported that she and boyfriend and superhero Ryan Gosling had split. But Mendes denies the reports, and says that all the scuttlebutt is really hard for her to deal with.

The actress explains:

“I’m feeling a little insecure because I can’t help be super conscious of what I’m saying because I’m so protective. That’s the most precious thing to me. And I’m so protective and I just felt my guard go up.”

Mendes talks a bit about her role in the film she met Gosling filming, saying:

“I play Ryan Gosling’s love interest and his baby mama. There’s the guard going up again a little bit! I’m pushing it down! And through this horrible tragedy, I have to deal with the fact that I now have this child to raise… It basically is this epic family drama that is really beautiful and emotional.”

The Place Beyond The Pines, starring Eva Mendes, Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper, is out later in 2012.
