Forget ‘Let It Go’ — Watch Kristen Bell’s Surprise Performance Of ‘Do You Want To Build A Snowman’ [Video]
Since the release of Disney’s smash-hit Frozen, people have been obsessing over the musical’s show-stopper “Let It Go,” sung by the ice queen Elsa, portrayed by Idina Menzel. While “Let It Go” skyrocketed Menzel to fame beyond the Broadway stage, it wasn’t the only hit song from Frozen.
Kristen Bell recently made a surprise appearance at Disney’s D23 Expo 2015 to sing “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?” as her character Princess Anna. According to Seventeen, Kristen Bell was joined by the two voice actresses who portrayed the younger versions of Anna, Katie Lopez and Aggie Lee Monn.
The audience thought they were only going to get to hear the young actors sing “Do You Want To Build A Snowman,” which drew a lot of applause as it was. But then one of the expo hosts declared, “You know I really would love to sing on this part, but I’m not sure that I know it. I wish there was someone else named Kristen who…” Before the host could finish her sentence, the crowd erupted with excitement and Kristen Bell took the stage.
You can watch the full performance of Kristen Bell singing “Do You Want To Build A Snowman” with her younger counterparts in the video above. As the Mirror reported, Kristen Bell slipped seamlessly into the character of Anna to deliver the performance, which is still heartbreaking more than two years after the release of Frozen. And when the song was over, Kristen Bell went back to being Kristen Bell and sat down to talk with the expo hosts for a bit. She declared that she was “so happy” to be there.
The live performance by Kristen Bell, Katie Lopez, and Aggie Lee Monn has since been uploaded to YouTube in its entirety. It has quickly drawn thousands of views and many positive comments.
“The INSTANT [Kristen Bell] opened her mouth, my arms were covered in goosebumps!,” wrote one YouTube user
“That’s true every single time I hear her part in this song,” responded another.
What did you think of seeing Kristen Bell take on the role of Anna again? And will you be going to theaters to see the continuation of the Frozen story when the sequel comes out?
