Sarah Hyland Trips, Lets Expletive Fly During Teen Choice Awards

Sarah Hyland knew immediately that everybody saw it — and heard it. The 24-year-old Modern Family star was on hand for Sunday night’s Teen Choice Awards, tapped to present the first award for the night with Skylar Astin from Pitch Perfect. But a funny thing happened on the way to her mark. E! Online reports Hyland tripped over her own feet (or maybe a piece of the set) and flew on to the stage, firing off some choice words at nobody in particular as she struggled to regain her composure.

“Are you f*******g kidding me?”

Realizing that she was wearing a hot mic and in front of a live audience, Sarah clamped her hand over her mouth as Skylar Astin did his best to keep it together. Hyland then joked with the audience about the gaffe. The New York Daily News noted that Hyland and Astin went on to present Ellen DeGeneres with the Choice Comedian award, adding that Ellen accepted the prize via prerecorded video.

“I do that sometimes, guys. I’m awkward like that.”

After her part onstage was over, Hyland hopped on Twitter and had a bit of fun at her own expense. Many of her 1.2 million followers joined in with the jocularity.

Earlier in the evening, Sarah Hyland also acted silly in a bit for the Teen Choice Awards, doing a bit of “whip” and “nae nae” on camera. She even failed to impress herself with her moves.

Even without any trips, Sarah Hyland has a history of stunning folks at her awards show appearances. As noted by Inquisitr in June, Hyland turned heads at the 2015 Much Music Awards when she showed up wearing a unique ensemble featuring a plunging dress with keyhole cutouts.

With so many memorable moments from this year’s Teen Choice Awards — from an over-the-top opening number by 5 seconds of Summer to a stunning red carpet appearance by Britney Spears — there’s surely a lot of material to squeeze into this year’s highlight reel.

But Sarah Hyland even got her own Vines this evening, with one of the clips racking up over a quarter of a million loops in the first few hours after Hyland tripped the light fantastic. That’s a distinction that she won’t have to share with anyone tonight.
