The four goals were more than Bilbao scored in their previous three meetings with Barcelona combined.
The game was also the second major match in a row that Barcelona had let four past keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The same thing happened against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup — but that time, Barcelona managed to score five of their own to win that trophy.
In the two games, Barcelona have allowed 10 shots on goal to their two opponents — eight of those shots ending up in the back of the net.

Despite the fact that Barcelona will have to win by a score of 5-0 at least — the required margin increases by one for every away goal scored by Athletic Bilbao in Monday’s match — Manager Luis Enrique believes that his side, led by the world’s premier goal scorer Lionel Messi, can still take home that elusive fifth trophy of 2015.
“We are completely convinced that if we do things well we will have a chance,” the 45-year-old second-year manager said on Sunday.
“There is no doubt we will try to do it. I have looked at the statistics and last season we scored four or more goals in 18 games. We have the potential and we are alive. When Barca play well anything can happen,” Enrique added.
