‘The X-Files’: Reyes And Scully’s Mother Will Be Back For The Revival, Plus Titans Collection

There may only be six new episodes coming as part of The X-Files revival series in January, 2016, but with all the news being released already – there are still months to go – those six episodes are going to be jam-packed with plenty to make old and new fans happy. The latest reveals two characters who will be returning from the original run.

When The X-Files returns (the premiere is Sunday, January 24), David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be reprising their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, but despite being in a good place in their relationship, when the original series ended and when the second movie ended, as the Inquisitr previously reported, they will not be together when the revival begins. How that might change things for their relationship in these episodes has yet to be revealed, as the promo that Fox has released so far with them talking does not even hint at it.

Also returning in their original roles are Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner), William B. Davis (Cigarette-Smoking Man), and Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood (The Lone Gunmen). Joel McHale, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Annet Mahendru, and Kumail Nanjiani are among those who will be appearing in new roles.

Now, TVLine has reported that Sheila Larken will be returning in The X-Files revival to play Scully’s mother, Margaret, once again, in Episode 2, “Home Again,” written by Glen Morgan. Originally, some had speculated that the episode’s title had something to do with the “Home” episode, but with Scully’s mother appearing in it, the title makes sense.

In other news, while Robert Patrick has already said that he will not be returning to reprise his role as John Doggett in the revival – he’s on Scorpion now – his character’s partner will be back. According to Entertainment Weekly, Annabeth Gish will be playing FBI Agent Monica Reyes once again. When Reyes was last seen on The X-Files, she was helping Mulder and Scully after they broke Mulder out of his cell. The exact role she’ll play in the revival series has yet to be revealed.

Finally, in a bit of fun X-Files news, Titan Merchandise announced on Twitter that it is releasing a “The Truth Is Out There Collection,” and fans can collect Titan vinyl figures of Mulder, Scully, Skinner, The Smoking Man, Byers, Frohike, Langley, Tooms (“Squeeze” and “Tooms”), Flukeman (“The Host”), Mutato (“The Post-Modern Prometheus”), Phyllis Paddock (“Die Hand Die Verletzt”) and Lanny (“Humbug”).

The X-Files revival will premiere Sunday, January 24, following the NFC Championship Game, on Fox. After that, it moves to Mondays (the second episode airs January 25).
