A Prince is born


A few hours ago, at 4.57 am to be exact, Denmark got a new prince. Her Royal Highness Princess Marie, second wife of his Royal Highness Prince Joachim gave birth to a son weighing 3032 grams. (6.68 lbs.) and 49 cm (19.29?) high.

This is Prince Joachim third child, he has two other sons aged 9 and 6 with his first wife Baroness Alexandra, but Princess Marie’s first. The new Prince is number seven in the heriditary order of succesion.

Amalienborg Palace, May 4, 2009

On Monday May 4, 2009 at 4.57 am Her Royal Highness Princess Marie gave birth to a healthy son at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen (Copenhagen University Hospital).

Weight: 3032 grs., length: 49 cm.

Mother and baby are doing fine.

His Royal Highness Prince Joachim was present at Rigshospitalet all the time.

The 10 hour birth happened without any complications. No details about the new Prince’s name has been revealed. It’s usually a well-kept secret until his baptism.
