And The Winner of ‘The Voice’ is …
It’s official. Jermaine Paul is now the Season 2 winner of NBC’s hit show ‘The Voice’.
Paul was able to edge out the other four finalists in Tuesday night’s unforgettable season finale featuring performances by Daryl Hall and John Oates, Lady Antebellum as well as teen heart throb Justin Bieber performing his new single “Boyfriend”.
First to leave the competition was Team Christina’s Chris Mann.
The classically trained Mann seemed very humble and grateful for his chance to make it this far in the competition, repeatedly thanking the fans as well as his team mates.
Next to go was Tony Lucca.
Lucca took third place in the competition after his creative rendition of Jay Z’s “99 Problems” in which he caused quite a stir with fellow mouseketeer Christina Aguilera.
Aguilera claimed the song was derogatory towards women and shamed Lucca for choosing the inappropriate song with his family in attendance. Coach Adam Levine quickly took to Lucca’s defense, claiming that the song was a metaphor for life trying to bring you down.
And so it came down to Team Cee Lo rocker Juliet Simms and former Alicia Keys backup singer, Team Blake’s Jermaine Paul.
Winning by the narrow margin of only 4%, Jermaine was able to give the boot to Juliet, crowing him as Season 2 winner of ‘The Voice’.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone that voted for me” said Jermaine.
A clearly emotional Paul exited the show singing R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly” while hugging his wife in celebration.
The 33 year old backup singer is now the proud recipient of $100,000 in addition to a Universal Republic record deal.
Do you think Jermaine Paul deserved to win ‘The Voice’? If not, who do you think deserved it?
