‘Castle’ Spoilers For Season 8 Show Launches With 2 Hour Event

Season 8 for Castle will be undergoing some huge changes that will change the series forever. Teasers and spoilers have been leaking, but the main ones will change the relationship of Beckett and Castle.

At the end of Season 7, the Inquisitr reported that Beckett was going to make a career change, perhaps from the police force into politics, but casting and script ideas have helped cement Beckett’s future. Penn Johnson Jerald, who played the police captain, has officially left the cast of Castle, creating an opening for Kate Beckett to take her place. The Inquisitr reported that Jerald took to Twitter to say goodbye to her fans.

“To my Castle fans around the world, as of late yesterday I am surprised and saddened to learn that I will no longer be a part of the Castle family. Thank you all for your support and love. Hugs from PJJ.”

Fashion n Style is reporting that the writers for Castle have nixed Beckett going into politics for now, because keeping her involved with the police is a better fit for the show. Terence Paul Winter, a co-runner for the production, explains why.

“However, they realized that the best way to tell Castle’s stories is to have Castle investigating twisty, fun cases. And the best way to do that is to keep Beckett in the precinct.”

There will be changes for Rick Castle, too, in terms of career moves. Richard Castle Investigations is no longer a whim, but a real business with actual cases, including the mystery surrounding his father’s disappearance and what actually happened during his own abduction.

Design & Trend is reporting that a new character will also shake up the precinct. Hayley Shipton, to be played by Toks Olagundoye, will provide a different skill set as the detective that will take Beckett’s place, alongside Ryan and Esposito. Fans have been concerned that the character of Hayley Shipton was written into the show to drive a wedge between Kate and Rick, but the writers say this is not so.

“For us, her character was never meant to be competition. She’s a strong, powerful, beautiful, independent woman and she adds a flavor of that into the show, but is not — in any way, shape or form — competition for Beckett,” writer Alexi Hawley says.

But some things will remain the same. Beckett and Castle will continue to have personal and professional overlaps, which will make their lives — and Season 8 — interesting.
