Kylie Jenner Cornrows: Kylie Wears Hairstyle Again After Amandla Stenberg Feud

Kylie Jenner hasn’t learned her lesson about wearing cornrows. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians reality star was photographed wearing the African American hairstyle yet again in a new photo posted to Instagram. Kylie was slammed by actress Amandla Stenberg after sharing a photo of herself wearing cornrows last month.

It looks like Kylie Jenner is risking herself by getting involved in another feud with the Hunger Games star, as noted via the Mirror. The now 18-year-old model and beauty blogger was seen wearing cornrows in a new photo on Instagram. Jenner completed her look with a black sports bra, gray yoga pants, and glasses that say “1-8” on them.

The wild teen was slammed by Amandla back in July when she was photographed wearing the braided hair style. The actress accused Kylie of “appropriating black culture” and said that she wasn’t using her celebrity status “to help black Americans.”

Stenberg commented on Jenner’s photo, “When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter.”

Kylie’s response? She simply told the actress to go hang out with Jaden Smith, who she went to prom with. Kylie hastily wrote, “Mad if I don’t, Mad if I do…Go hang w Jaden or something.” Some fans may not know that Kylie and Jaden were rumored to have dated in the past.

It looked like the point went over the youngest Jenner sister’s head as she’s seen wearing the hairstyle once again.

This isn’t the first time that Stenberg has spoken out about cultural appropriation. Earlier this year, she made a video for her history class titled “Don’t Cash Crop On My Cornrows.” In the video, Stenberg explains how hairstyles like cornrows were started by black culture — and why white people who wear these styles is appropriating these looks.

“The line between cultural appropriation and cultural exchange is always going to blurred, but here’s the thing. Appropriation occurs when a style leads to racist generalizations or stereotypes where it originated, but is deemed as high-fashion, cool, or funny when the privileged take it for themselves. Appropriation occurs when the appropriator is not aware of the deep significance of their culture they are partaking in.”

It seems like Kylie is not aware of how she appropriates black culture, since she has not yet brushed up on the subject. It doesn’t appear that the teen cares, since she’ll continue to share photos of herself wearing cornrows as she pleases. Kylie’s older sisters, Kendall, Khloe, and Kim, have all been photographed wearing the same hairstyle before. It looks like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
