Previous to this announcement, Australians were concerned they would have to use geo blocking, a VPN, or illegally download Fear The Walking Dead in order to find out how the zombie outbreak started. These methods are commonly used in countries where content is blocked. While unblocking and using a VPN is more legal than illegally downloading content, there are grey areas concerning the legalities of these methods of viewing content. HBO has already started warning Australians that this method of accessing US content is not favored by their network and is starting to send out emails to deter users.
Since Foxtel made the announcement, FX Australia sent out a tweet with the news and asking Walking Dead fans to “RT to infect a friend.”

According to Foxtel’s FX channel, the synopsis for Fear The Walking Dead is as follows:
“A companion series to worldwide smash hit The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and English teacher Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.”
