The Last Scenes Of ‘Downton Abbey’: Final Days Of Filming Brings Tearful Sentiments From Cast

As you know by now, Downton Abbey is in its final season, and fans are not happy that this hit show will no longer be on their TV screens any longer. However, everyone can still look forward to all of the happenings in the Crawley household very soon. Filming is wrapping up this week and the actors and actresses of the show are now saying goodbye to their characters and each other.

The stars of Downton Abbey have been tweeting quite a few photos of their last days on set for fans to be able to see. The most heartbreaking one so far has come from actress Elizabeth McGovern. Of course, she plays the role of Lady Cora and her very last day of taping was on Saturday, as she revealed on social media. The picture shows her in a big hug with Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith). At least that is who it appears to be, and tears are flowing. They are both still in their Downton attire as Allen Leech (Tom Branson) looks on.

It has got to be an emotional time for everyone on set, including the special crew who all work so hard on set to bring such an iconic show to devoted viewers each week. The sixth season should be quite amazing and even heartbreaking for those who hate to see it all end.

What is expected to happen during the final season of Downton Abbey? The Mirror revealed that the Crawley family will be undergoing some major changes in their lifestyle that they have been used to all of these years. They will have to fend for themselves instead of relying on their servants in order to cut back on expenses. How will they ever get through it?

The Abbey just won’t be the same without the downstairs crew. However, it should be fun to see Lady Cora, Lady Mary, and Lady Edith in the kitchen trying to cook. It is quite likely that we will get to see Mrs. Hughes and Carson get hitched maybe in the show’s final episode. How about a new little baby for Mr. and Mrs. Bates? Now that would certainly be something to see at Downton.

As for the actors that will be moving on from this unique and well-loved show, they will have to adjust to life without Downton Abbey. Some of them have already gotten new gigs elsewhere. As reported by the Inquisitr, Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary) has a starring role in a new series called Good Behavior on TNT. It will be great to see her in a new and different role than what everyone is used to.

Downton Abbey will be truly missed, but maybe the rumor of a Downton movie will happen later on down the road. In the meantime, fans can get geared up to see the very last scenes of this hit PBS series in a few months.

The final season of Downton Abbey premieres in the U.S. on January 3, 2016.
