Ed Sheeran To Star In New ‘Bridget Jones’ Movie?
Ed Sheeran is certainly keeping busy these days.
And contrary to what you may think, the English pop star is not only spending his time singing to packed audiences around the world, but Ed Sheeran is in the midst of kindling an acting career for himself. Yes, after it was recently announced that he had landed an acting role in Kurt Sutter’s new FX medieval drama The Bastard Executioner, Ed Sheeran will now be seen in the third film of the hugely-successful Bridget Jones franchise.

According to Mirror, film crews for Bridget Jones’s Baby were spotted at Ed Sheeran’s Croke Park concert back in July, and if the ensuing rumors are to be believed, the singer has reportedly made a verbal agreement with the film’s producers to make an appearance in the movie. Sources had earlier revealed that Renee Zellweger was spotted in the audience of Ed Sheeran’s concert, apparently sitting on the shoulders of a mystery man. But later Sky News reported it was in fact Renee Zellweger’s body double who was present at Croke Park for the shoot.
“There was no risk in filming Renée at a busy gig. But they knew the cat would be out the bag the minute people saw her at the show. Renée’s body double and the cameramen were in and out of the crowd as quickly as possible.”
The third movie in the hugely popular Bridget Jones franchise, Bridget Jones’s Baby, is currently in the development phase, and is to be directed by Sharon Maguire. Metro reports that Colin Firth and Renee Zellweger are already on board for the project, but Hugh Grant has turned down the chance to return as the dastardly Daniel Cleaver. Fans of the franchise have been left ecstatic with this piece of news, with all signs pointing to the fact that Ed Sheeran will make a fantastic addition to the next Bridget Jones film. Social media was filled with speculations about the character Ed Sheeran could play, with a popular publication even writing that the singer would be a fitting substitute for Hugh Grant in the film.

We would love to see Ed Sheeran face the camera as somebody else. Fortunately, Ed Sheeran fans do not have to wait until the next year for that opportunity, as the English pop star has already confirmed that he is going to play a major role in the soon-to-be-released drama series The Bastard Executioner.
