Zendaya Launches Her First ‘Dope’ Shoe Collection [Video]

Disney star Zendaya just graduated from high school a few months ago and she’s already taking on the fashion world. The entertainer is now releasing her own shoe collection, which is scheduled to hit stores by next spring.

Zendaya decided to step into fashion since she’s quickly becoming a fashion icon among her fans. Others may know of her after E! News host Giuliana Rancic made controversial remarks about her dreadlocks at the 2015 Oscars. Now Zendaya is banking off her style, according to stylist Law Roach, who created the shoe collection with the starlet.

“She’s growing into what people are calling a fashion icon. The next step is developing some type of line.”

The singer took to Instagram to share a photo of her new shoe collection. She captioned the photo: “Oh and I’m a shoe designer @luxurylaw #Daya @thesoleofdaya.” Looks like the collection will be called the Sole of Daya. Cute and clever!

Zendaya and Law wanted to create a line that would appeal to all ages and would work with all budgets. The collection includes everything from fringe flat sandals for the music festival to sporty wedge sneakers to hit the streets. Every shoe in the line ranges from $125 to $175, which is affordable for most young women. Zendaya explained to People’s StyleWatch about how she was inspired by both red carpet style and the women in her life.

“I was inspired by everyday women and I was inspired a lot by my niece – she’s in college – and my sister, who’s a working woman with two kids and a husband. I constantly ask them how they do find stuff, how much would they pay for a good shoe and what they are looking for.”

Not only was style important, but Zendaya also noted that she wanted to make her collection affordable for all women.

“They kind of women we’re targeting are real women who want a good shoe they can wear to their job interviews, but still be stylish and not break the bank. But it’s not like that typical look for less. No, these are dope shoes and you don’t have to spend three years trying to buy them.”

Although Zendaya is five-foot-10, the singer still wanted to create sky-high stilettos and platform shoes for women of her stature, according to Roach.

“One of her big platforms is telling girls that it’s okay to be tall and wear heels – it’s okay to be the tallest girl in the room.”

The “Replay” singer first made her foray in fashion when she unveiled her Adigirl collection for Adidas in late July. Zendaya’s first fashion collection includes a line of jackets, crop tops, and shorts. Much like her shoe line, everything in the line is affordable and stylish.

Zendaya also shared a photo of herself on Instagram, posing alongside a rack of the sportswear from her collection. The actress also showed off her cool style in a sleeveless orange jersey, ripped boyfriend jeans, and red hot stilettos.

She included the caption, “Thanks for having me @adidaswomen #adigirl.”
