Angel Di Maria Arrives In Qatar To Complete Paris Saint-Germain Transfer

Angel Di Maria’s brief tenure at Manchester United is almost over, after the Argentinian midfielder was spotted arriving in Qatar, where he is now expected to complete his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the next few days.

According to the BBC, Di Maria is going to Doha, Qatar, to meet Paris Saint-Germain officials. He is then expected to complete his medical in Qatar on Monday, before he then signs on the dotted line to complete his £44.4 million ($69.40 million) transfer to the French capital.

Angel Di Maria posed for a variety of pictures at Doha airport once he landed. The 27-year-old had flown into Doha from Argentina, where he has been recuperating following Argentina’s appearance in Copa America.

After finalising the particulars of his deal to Paris Saint-Germain, Di Maria will then take a flight to France where he will sign the contract. The details of the contract have reportedly already been agreed to, as the Daily Mail have alleged that the former Real Madrid player will sign a four-year contract with PSG that will pay him around $265,000 a week after taxes.

The failure of Angel Di Maria to sparkle at Manchester United will ultimately prove to be frustrating to Louis Van Gaal. Van Gaal purchased Di Maria from Madrid last summer for a British record fee of £59.7 million ($93 million).

His signing was seen as a huge coup by Manchester United, especially considering that the Red Devils hadn’t qualified for the Champions League. Di Maria had blossomed at Real Madrid during the 2013-2014 season to such an extent that he was widely regarded as one of the best players in the world.

Di Maria even made a bright start to his Manchester United career. In his first four games for United, Di Maria managed to get a goal and an assist in three matches.

However, his form soon dissipated thanks to injuries and being played out of position. After playing and being sent-off for United in their defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-final in March, Di Maria only started one further match for Louis Van Gaal’s side. This then led to fervid speculation that Di Maria would exit Old Trafford in the summer. Those rumors that are now set to become correct.
