Jon Snow Is Dead, Really And Truly Dead, ‘Game Of Thrones’ Showrunners Say

Jon Snow is dead, really and truly dead, Game of Thrones showrunners claim. Fans were shocked when the beloved character seemingly died during the season finale of the HBO hit series. When Kit Harington, the GoT actor who portrays Jon Snow, was spotted recently with the rest of the cast in Belgium, fans hoped that the sighting meant the lord commander of the Night’s Watch would somehow miraculously recover from his stab wounds.

During a Television Critics Association panel for HBO event, programming president Michael Lombardo addressed the Jon Snow is dead debate.

Dead is dead. He is dead,” Lombardo said. “Yes, everything I’ve seen, heard and read, Jon Snow is indeed dead.” The HBO executive reportedly grinned when making the comment; the sly smiles have given die-hard Snow fans still reason to hope that the lord commander emerges from the bloody snow.

Lombardo also noted that Game of Thrones will likely continue on for three more seasons. Game of Thrones recently earned 126 Emmy nominations.

“This show has had violence as part of one of its many threads from the first episode. I can’t speak to any single person’s particular taste… I think the show is phenomenal,” Lombardo added when fielding audience questions about Game of Thrones. “It hit 20 million viewers this year. And I’ll be honest you with you, I think there are no two showrunners who are more careful about not overstepping what they think the line is — and everyone has their own line, I understand — but doing things that are critical for the storytelling and I support them fully artistically. As for Snow’s fate, in everything I’ve seen, heard or read, Jon Snow is indeed dead.”

Many Jon Snow fans held onto the hope that the “Red Witch” would bring the hero back to life. Melisandre, the red woman, has used the powers of the Lord of Light to breathe life back into worthy men before, and Game of Thrones fans definitely find Kit Harington’s Jon Snow to be due such a courtesy.

During the GoT season finale, Melisandre rode into Castle Black shortly before Snow died. Fans hoped that previous comments from showrunners saying that “Jon Snow is deader than dead” did not necessarily rule out the chance of his life being restored by supernatural means.

Do you think Jon Snow is dead but will be brought back to life, or is Kit Harington’s character headed for his final resting place and Game of Thrones moves on without the fan favorite?
