Kelly Price Divorce: R&B Singer Divorces Husband And Manager Jeffery Rolle After 23 Years Of Marriage

Kelly Price is divorcing her husband, Jeffery Rolle, after 23 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

The “Take Me to a Dream” singer issued a brief statement regarding her decision to divorce her husband and manager after all of these years, explaining that, while it is hard to leave the father of her children, Jeffrey Rolle Jr., 23, and Jonia Rolle, 21, it is simply time for her to move on with her life.

Unlike most marriages, cheating was not involved. However, Price says her sister’s untimely death in 2014 made her reevaluate the important things in life, and she realized she had fallen out of love with Rolle, who has served as both her partner and her manager for more than two decades.

“After the untimely death of my sister last year, it weighed on me heavily that this was something we needed to do. I ultimately made the decision to live the best life I can,” Price’s statement to Always A-List read. “I ended things because I didn’t want to compromise what true happiness was anymore. There are no hard feelings and I will love Jeff until the day I die!”

The 42-year-old singer and seven-time Grammy nominee, who sang backup for singers such as Mariah Carey, Faith Evans, Aretha Franklin, Brian McKnight, SWV, and R. Kelly, said the decision to divorce was based on mutual happiness, and explained that they had just grown apart over the years.

The couple, who previously appeared on TV One’s reality television show R&B Divas: Atlanta, started dating when they were only 19-years-old, and tied the knot in 1992, according to Seattle Pi. Throughout their marriage, the couple was somehow able to steer away from the scandals that most famous couples face, which made their divorce announcement shocking to many of Price’s fans. However, those who witnessed their relationship on the show described it as somewhat toxic. They departed the reality show after only one season.

Price released her album Sing Pray Love, Vol. 1: Sing in June, 2014, and is set to release the followup album Sing, Pray, Love Vol. 2: Pray sometime next year. During her career, Price has released five R&B albums, one Gospel CD, and a Christmas album.

Rolle, who also has a photography business and does art direction for recording artists, has decided not to issue a statement at the current time.
