One Direction Back To Five? Zayn Malik Has The Answer

One Direction and Zayn Malik can’t stay apart for long. Though Twitter users are questioning a return, Zayn has yet to comment. In the midst of One Direction’s fifth anniversary, which was officially marked on Thursday, it’s unclear if Zayn will reunite with the band. Perhaps he can come together with them one last time before he goes off on his solo career, if even for one song on the next album One Direction releases.

The past five years have been a whirlwind of success for One Direction. It’s amazing how quickly they rose in popularity. They weren’t even looking to form a band. The young men who would eventually form One Direction tried out for The X Factor separately, as individual singers.

But five years since the day they formed just passed. Will One Direction celebrate with their full, original cast of five members? It’s only fitting that Malik play such a disappearing trick on us, only to rejoin the band after their most special occasion. That’s what some fans are wishing for.

The band mainly celebrated the occasion with fans via Twitter. They are probably too busy trying to get that fifth album out to think about much else. In any case, working on more great music is the best way to mark such an event. Meanwhile, the hashtag #ZaynIsComingBackOnJuly26 continues to both entice and confuse fans on social media. As the boys of One Direction all congratulated each other on Twitter for the ride, Zayn is right up there in all the tweets.

Billboard took note of all the Twitter love.

“The four remaining members of 1D tweeted missives of thanks to their fans for the past five years, with Payne writing, ‘Wowwwww 5 years 5 boys what an amazing journey I couldn’t thank you all ever enough and thank you Louis Niall Harry and zayn for everything.’ Malik replied, ‘thanks bro!’ along with a smiley face and an ‘x.’ Malik also retweeted two of Payne’s Tweets noting the five year anniversary.”

If Zayn does stay away for this fifth album, it’s hard to say what will be of the group. One Direction’s first four albums all debuted at No. 1 on Billboard charts. Missing Zayn’s contributions both on new music and on tour might leave fans with the unsettling feeling that an essential ingredient isn’t there.

On the other hand, if Zayn can really have a successful solo career, it may be encouraging to the other members of One Direction, who might try for a similar route. We’ll just have to wait until July 26 to see of One Direction adds Zayn back.
