Duggars Will Get A Paycheck From TLC Despite ’19 Kids’ Cancellation Thanks To Sex Abuse Special

Though TLC has announce that it has officially cancelled the Duggar family’s 19 Kids and Counting, it doesn’t seem to be stopping them from funding the family.

In fact, the Duggars will receive another paycheck from TLC for Jill and Jessa’s part in the upcoming “sex abuse special.” That is correct, the network that shunned the Duggars for the Josh Duggar molestation scandal will not only be capitalizing off of the family’s sex abuse history, but will also be funding the family that they have supposedly dropped due to the controversy.

According to People Magazine, the two most recently wed Duggars, Jill and Jessa, will be featured in a sex abuse special to be aired on TLC. When announcing the cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting, TLC noted that a sex abuse documentary was in the works. It was also noted that Jill and Jessa would be a part of that documentary. However, what was not noted is that the Duggars will be paid for their inclusion into the special that is supposed to be an encouragement to those who suffered from sexual abuse.

TLC claims that they have partnered with child protective organizations, the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network and Darkness to Light, to “raise awareness and offer families dealing with similar issues resources.” They said that the Duggar family’s dark past opened up room for this discussion and that they hope to provide “relief for sex abuse sufferers.”

“We realized just how huge and devastating the issue of child sexual abuse is around the U.S. We felt there was a conversation happening because of the Duggars’ situation, and we wanted to do something to move it forward.”

With the program aimed at providing encouragement and relief for sexual abuse sufferers, the question remains, why would the Duggars accept monetary payment for their involvement? Wouldn’t the inclusion of Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald be seen as a moment of charity to help others who have suffered from various forms of abuse?

It is not known at this time how much involvement the Duggars will have in the special or exactly what Jill and Jessa will be speaking on as they have opened up about the abuse in numerous publications and in their live interview with Megyn Kelly. During their interview, both Jessa and Jill noted that the whole issue was blown out of proportion and that the touching was only done over the clothes and at night when they were sleeping. The girls noted that they had healed from the incident and forgiven Josh for his actions. Therefore, it is unclear what additional information the Duggar girls could provide to abuse sufferers as they have already outlined their “steps to recovery” which involved forgiveness, support from their parents and prayer.

What do you think about the Duggar family accepting payment for their inclusion in the sex abuse special on TLC?
