Kim Richards’ Ex Says She’s Doing Movies Now, Not Reality TV

While Kim Richards claims that producers have asked her back for Season 6 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, it seems that she has no intent on actually doing it. On Wednesday, Kim sat down for her first media interview since ending her latest rehab stay. She spoke to Entertainment Tonight about her sobriety, her arrest, subsequent rehab stay, and the reality TV show.

When the subject of Real Housewives came up, Kim said that she hasn’t spoken to its producers directly because she has been focused on her treatment, but her representative has told told her that they want her back.

“My representative did speak to them. They have asked me to come back.”

Yet, according to Kim’s ex-husband, Monty Brinson, she has no interest in continuing with the reality TV show. Monty actually attended the taping of Kim’s interview with Entertainment Tonight. He posted a photo taken of him with Kim and the interviewer on set. In response to someone who criticized reality TV, Monty said that Kim won’t be doing that medium anymore.

“She’s going to be doing movies now not reality. That’s what’s she’s been doing all her life. I agree about reality shows. It was just a job for her that’s why she did it. You’ll see this year what she has lined up this year.”

Monty Brinson and Kim Richards later attended the Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, in which Kim has a small part, premiere after-party. Monty posted a photo of them at the party and boasted about the loving and close relationship that he has with Kim.

“Tonight I was touched, Kari told me Kim told her ‘If I could identify love with one word it would be Monty’ that saying touched my heart that I must be doing something right in this world.”

In her interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kim said that stress from her personal life, including having to deal with Monty’s terminal cancer, led her to break her sobriety.

“I love sobriety. I’ve always loved sobriety, and relapsing was very hard for me. It was not easy. I have to say, don’t take this wrong, but I really wanted to go to treatment because I needed a break from what I was going through at home. Monty, my ex-husband, is very sick and my son wasn’t well. And I had to give away my dog, and I wasn’t talking to my sister [Kyle Richards].”

“Actually, my arrest was my ‘a-ha I get to go away now and rest and take a break from all this’. I don’t want anybody to take this wrong, but I truly needed a break from hospitals, family, the pressure. I needed to go away.”
