Despite the recent news that TLC had decided to drop 19 Kids and Counting from their lineup, the Duggar family is putting on a happy face for their fans. Today, Jinger updated the Duggar Family Official Facebook page with a clip of her mother, Michelle Duggar, showing off some pretty impressive skating skills.
Jinger notes that Michelle “out-skated the whole place” and did it in style. The Duggar matriarch could be seen circling the skating rink backwards.
“Check this out. Our mom is so much fun! We had a blast skating together yesterday. Check it out. Her skills are mad! She out-skated the whole place…backwards! -Jinger”
To make the feat all the more impressive, Michelle did it all while wearing a long skirt. Jinger notes that her mom is “so much fun” and backs up the claim with the video of the Duggar day out at the skating rink. It seems that the Duggars have adopted a theme of “fun” since TLC announced they were dropping the family from their line-up.
Shortly after posting the video of Michelle Duggar breaking out her best moves on the skating rink floor, photos of Jim Bob and the five littlest Duggars enjoying a day at the drive-thru safari in Gentry, Arkansas, were posted. Therefore, it seems that the Duggars are trying to put on a happy face for their fans and possibly set the stage for future endeavors with other networks or their own personal YouTube channel.
However, as the Facebook page Duggar Family News: Life is not all pickles and hairspray pointed out, there is one problem with Michelle Duggar’s skating video — the song. The song playing in the background is “YMCA” by the Village People, which is viewed by some as a “gay anthem.” With the Duggar family adamantly opposed to the LGBT community, it is likely that the family didn’t know the association. Despite the fact that the song is heavily associated with the gay community, others on the page also found it odd that she was skating to any mainstream song at all. One poster notes that the skating could be viewed as a form of dancing which is avoided in the Duggar household.
“I am shocked they are allowed to skate to music since they can’t dance to it! Seems like the devil could still get inside them if they are moving to the music.”
What do you think of the Duggars’ recent photos and videos shedding some light on their fun times together as a family? With the cameras off, do you think the Duggars are finally getting the time to enjoy things such as skating, or is it all a ploy to draw in viewers for donations for their various new family endeavors such as Jill and Derick Dillard’s missionary work?
