Amy Schumer Dishes Bill Cosby: ‘I’m Going To Say The Stuff That Makes Me Unappealing’ [Video]

Amy Schumer quickly got the reputation for being an “oversharer” in the entertainment industry — and she’s not afraid to tackle topic other comics would leave alone. Bill Cosby, for example. Schumer dished with GQ recently about a scene in Inside Amy Schumer that would leave audiences laughing and cringing at the same time.

Not one to shy away from controversial topics, Amy wanted to share her take on the Bill Cosby scandal — which ended up featuring her as a lawyer defending Bill Cosby on Inside Amy Schumer, handing out pudding pops and colorful sweaters. “We worked so hard trying to figure that scene out,” she revealed to GQ. “I originally pitched it: ‘What if it’s a support group for women who’ve been raped, and they won’t say who did it, but they’re all wearing Cosby sweaters and eating Jell-O?’ ”

When asked if she cared what Bill Cosby might think about the scene, Amy Schumer, a strong advocate of women’s rights, responded, “I don’t care. I think he’s so far…”

It was recently revealed that Bill Cosby “said he had paid women after sex to keep the affairs from his wife” in a sworn testimony years ago, reports the Huffington Post, and that he “offered to pay for [one woman’s] education and paid another woman whom he had met in 1976.”

When it comes to the victims, Schumer is behind them 100 percent, and feels their detractors need to wise up: “I guess I do hope people see [the scene in Inside Amy Schumer] who are vilifying the women coming forward just so they can enjoy The Cosby Show still.”

Amy Schumer has made a career, in part, by bringing women’s issues to the forefront. When asked about her goals as a comedian and her show, Inside Amy Schumer, by GQ, Amy responded that “providing a voice for women that was palatable for men also… an honest, unapologetic human voice” is important to her.

And when it comes to questionable content, Amy retorts, “I’m not going to shy away from doing it, I’m going to say the stuff that makes me unappealing. I chose to do that.”

When it comes to her popularity, Amy Schumer believes, “I truly feel I’m getting a lot of attention right now and it’s just a ticking time bomb… I wonder what the thing is going to be that will make people want to burn me at the stake… I think it will be really arbitrary and a misunderstanding.” But she’s enjoying the attention.

“I’m really enjoying the love right now.”
