Mike Trout Hits Walk Off Home Run For Los Angeles Angels

This is Mike Trout’s world and the rest of us just live in it. Trout proved again on Friday why he is the best player in all of Major League Baseball by clubbing a home run to left-center field to give the Los Angeles Angels a 1-0 win over the Boston Red Sox. As reported by NBC Sports it was Trout’s third career walk-off homer.

Boston closer Koji Uehara had been quite successful against Trout before Friday night holding him hitless in five at bats. Mike told the Boston Globe that he just tried to stay calm, cool, and collected.

“Just trying to keep my approach and control my emotions and not hit a home run. If I had thought about it, probably wouldn’t have happened. Got a fastball and drove it,”

Trout is coming off his second straight All-Star Game MVP performance and has continued his hot play right into the second half of the season. Facing Uehara, Trout smacked a no-doubt-about-it homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to send Angels fans home happy. It was Trout’s 27th homer of the year and ties him for the MLB lead with J.D. Martinez of the Detroit Tigers and Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins.

The Angels offense was stagnant the first six innings as Wade Miley held them hitless, in fact the Angels had just two hits all game long. C.J. Wilson went eight shutout innings for the Angels and Joe Smith pitched the ninth and collected his fourth win of the season. Smith took a liner of the shin for the last out of the ninth inning.

Trout is just 23-years-old but, as reported earlier at the Inquisitr, many believe that he is the best player in the game right now. It is hard to argue with Trout’s career numbers. In less than five complete seasons he has a.306 batting average, 125 home runs, 442 runs scored, 363 runs batted in and 111 stolen bases. All this while playing highlight-reel-worthy centerfield. In his three complete seasons, he has twice finished second in the American League MVP voting and in the other year he won the award. CBS Sports baseball writer Jon Heyman has made up his mind about Trout and shared this tweet.

Mike Trout and the rest of the Angels now lead the A.L. West by half a game over the Houston Astros. Some extra help may also be on the way as the Los Angeles Times is reporting that finding an outfield bat is top priority for the franchise as the trade deadline approaches.
