Brand New ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Poster, Plus Episode One Images

San Diego Comic Con occurred last week and for Walking Dead fans, it brought plenty of news about both The Walking Dead, as well as the companion program, Fear The Walking Dead. With the advent of a start date for Fear The Walking Dead, AMC has released a poster and some episode stills to go along with it.

The new poster has a very similar feel to the original one that showed zombie prints in the sand. However, this one actually features a zombie! Two children are playing basketball out on the street in L.A. As they both reach for the ball, a zombie is seen shambling up the road. It looks very similar to the one seen in a tunnel in the original promo video for Fear The Walking Dead.

As well as the new start date poster, AMC has released some stills from Fear The Walking Dead. The first two images are from episode one (as yet still only titled as “Pilot”) and appear to be from the run down house Nick (played by Frank Dillane) escaped from in the Nick’s Escape promo.

The first image shows a character called Gloria (Lexi Johnson). She is leaning over a dead male and appears to have been feasting on him. The second image shows Gloria standing, as if she is deciding whether to follow whoever is looking at her or not. As anticipated, having Fear The Walking Dead based in L.A., we now get so see some beautiful zombies rather than the rotted old corpses we are used to seeing in The Walking Dead. The final image is from episode three (as yet untitled) and shows a male zombie who appears to have had a lot of his face chewed off.

In all the images, the eyes of the zombies are milky and their skin — where not damaged by injury — still appears like living flesh, so it will certainly be confusing to the characters initially as to who is alive and who is undead unless they are up close enough to be in real danger.

Some of the cast of Fear The Walking Dead recently attended San Diego Comic Con and have stated that the term “zombies” will not be used in this series, just as it isn’t used in The Walking Dead. However, considering the outbreak is new, the term used in The Walking Dead — walkers — is not appropriate either. Cliff Curtis (Travis) and Alycia Debnam-Carey (Alicia) confirmed to Yahoo! TV that the term that will be used, at least initially, will be “the infected.”

Fear the Walking Dead premieres on Sunday, August 23, at 9/8c on AMC.
