Timbaland Divorce: Monique Mosley Refiles After Prior Dismissal

Timbaland’s divorce seems to be moving forward, despite a prior dismissal. Monique Mosley originally filed for divorce in October 2013. However, she dismissed the case one year later. Although the famous couple attempted to reconcile, Mosley refiled the divorce on June 22.

As reported by Us Weekly, Timbaland and Mosely met in 2003 and were married in June 2008. They are the parents of 8-year-old Reign and 12-year-old Demetrius.

Although the specific reason was never revealed, Monique Mosley originally filed divorce papers in late 2013.

TMZ reports Mosely initially sought permanent spousal support, continued insurance coverage, attorney fees, and child support.

As stated in the filing, Timbaland is not Demetrius’ biological father. However, Mosely claimed he “publicly and privately proclaimed this child as his own.”

One year later, Timbaland’s divorce was dismissed, and the couple seemed to be working things out. Unfortunately, their reconciliation simply did not last.

A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Timothy Z. Mosley was born in 1972. As discussed on his personal website, Mosley got the nickname “Timbaland” from Devante Swing — as he often wore Timberland boots.

While in high school, Timbaland became friends with Missy Elliot and Pharrell Williams, who influenced his life and musical style.

Although he was a talented singer and songwriter, Timbaland also developed a keen interest in producing music for others.

Throughout the 1990s, he produced hit singles for Aaliyah, Ginuwine, and his friend Missy Elliot. He also produced his own album, Tim’s Bio: Life From da Bassment, which featured several guest performers — including Jay-Z and Ludacris. As reported by Biography, Timbaland founded his own record label in 2006.

Throughout the next eight years, he produced albums for numerous superstars, including Madonna, Snoop Dogg, and Justin Timberlake.

In 2013, Timbaland was asked to produce and supervise the music for Fox’s hit drama Empire. His estranged wife, Monique, is also part of the popular show.

It is unclear whether Timbaland’s divorce will affect production of Empire, as neither party has publicly discussed the filing. At this time, the program’s much anticipated second season is set to begin.

Although the papers were filed last month, Timbaland has not responded to the divorce petition.
