Since 2013 no team has lost their first 10 games at home. It just isn’t done anymore. Welcome to the Kansas City Royals. The Royals have managed to lose their first ten games at home on their way to a 3-14 start.

Royals manager Ned Yost commented that having to overcome a 3-14 start is a “fertilizer for maturity and growth.”. Basically saying that the only way the team can go is up.

Then there is the guy pictured above who has gone viral all over the web. His parody Twitter account (the truest mark of respect in the internet age) is RoyalsBookGuy. The guy pictured above was sitting in a $240 Crown Club seat, the most expensive in the stadium outside the skyboxes. What does he decide to do? He is so bored with the game that he pulls out a novel and engrosses himself in a nice read!

The Royals headed out on a three-city, nine-game road trip on Tuesday night, but any thoughts of it being a renewing experience were doused with a 4-3 loss at Cleveland. The defeat ran their losing streak to 12 games.

The Royals may win one of the games on this trip. It is even likely that they will. But unfortunately they will not be back playing at Kaufman Stadium until the first week in May. The Royals will actually go the entire month of April without a home win. Add that to the statistic that of the 20 12 game losing streaks 5 belong to the Royals.

While fans may be hoping for some relief when the Royals return, better go pick up “50 Shades of Gray” because their fist two home series are with the Red Sox and the Yankees.
