Shop Where Ariana Grande Licked Doughnuts Investigated [Video]

Ariana Grande faced backlash Tuesday after a video surfaced of her appearing to lick doughnuts she hadn’t purchased at a California shop. Her obnoxious behavior didn’t end there — the incident ended with the 22-year-old Florida native proclaiming her hatred for America and Americans.

The video first appeared on TMZ, and shows Ariana Grande and her backup dancer “friend” at the counter of Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, California. In what was supposedly a game of truth or dare, the pair lick doughnuts that a shop employee had left exposed on the display counter. The employee placed them there so she could go to the back and fetch fresh ones at Ariana Grande’s request.

After she had secretly contaminated the older doughnuts, Ariana barked “What the f*** is that?” as the worker returned with the fresh pastries the pop princess had requested. Grande then exclaimed, “I hate America. I hate Americans.”

Ariana Grande issued an apology Wednesday for her “choice of words” — never making any mention of the doughnut licking. She went on to blame her frustration over childhood obesity and America’s lack of education about healthy eating for her outburst.

“I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my country. What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words.”

Ariana went on to say that as an advocate of healthy eating, she feels we need to learn about the dangers of overeating and putting “poison” into our bodies.

“The fact that the United States has one of the highest child obesity rates in the world frustrates me. We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison that we put into our bodies. However I should have known better in how I expressed myself; and with my new responsibility to others as a public figure I will strive to be better.”

The owner of the doughnut shop took the surveillance video to the Lake Elsinore police department, thinking a crime was possibly committed. While investigators found Ariana Grande wasn’t guilty of any crime, Riverside County Department of Environment decided to investigate the shop Wednesday for violation of food laws.

A spokesperson for the department told the Associated Press no further issues were noted. The owner assured them food is not normally left exposed to the public (which is a violation of California food law), but the doughnuts were left in this case so the worker could grab fresh ones, as Ariana Grande requested.

Ariana Grande may not be guilty of any crime, but she is definitely guilty of being “rude,” according to the 22-year-old cashier who waited on her. Mayra Solis told the Associated Press, “She was really rude.” After watching the video, no one can argue with that.
