‘X-Files’ Reboot Teaser Trailer Released: Catch Scully And Mulder In Action [Video]

Back in March when it was announced that The X-Files would return to TV, fans went wild. Finally, after much anticipation since that announcement, Fox has released a teaser trailer for The X-Files reboot. Gillian Anderson makes an appearance as Scully along with David Duchovny as Mulder, and while short, it gives an exciting sneak peek into what fans have to look forward to come January 2016.

In the extremely short clip of Scully and Mulder, they can be seen charging into a darkened room with flashlights and with guns drawn. The pair appear to be searching for something. Could that something be of a paranormal nature? Fans will have to wait and see.

Included in the teaser trailer, Fox also announces the network’s plan to air each episode of The X-Files in order, starting from the very beginning of the series, in a countdown to the show’s return. Fox calls it “201 Days of The X-Files.”

The countdown to The X-Files revival begins July 7 with the pilot episode and will run all the way through to January with one episode airing a day. There are 201 episodes from The X-Files’ original run. X-Files fans, you have just over 200 days until the series returns.

The Wrap reports The X-Files became one of the most successful television dramas of all time during its nine-season run. More than 27 million people watched the Season 5 premiere, and the show had earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes, and a Peabody Award.

The X-Files is returning for a six-episode limited run with original creator Chris Carter. Mitch Pileggi is coming back as Walter Skinner, and Joel McHale will guest star. The show just started shooting earlier this summer. At this point, not much is known about the plot details, and the four-second teaser trailer of Scully and Mulder in action are all fans have to go on in terms of The X-Files reboot, at least until the next teaser trailer is released.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Gillian Anderson has had to wear a wig to obtain Scully’s red locks. Fans have shared photos on social media, and many were disappointed when they could tell Anderson was wearing a wig. However, Gillian has had to dye her hair for her roles in Hannibal and The Fall, and the X-Files actress was told if she dyed her hair again, she would be risking hair loss.

The first new episode of The X-Files premieres January 24, 2016 on Fox.
