WWE is already in serious prep mode for Battleground which takes place in less than two weeks on July 19.
Still, there was a lot of time between it and Money In The Bank. With all that time, it appears the rumors have started about additional matches and there are even possible spoilers about what is to happen at and after the Pay-Per-View.
Currently, there are five confirmed matches for Battleground, but at least two more are expected to be added. WWE has listed the confirmed card as of Tuesday.
- WWE Title: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Brock Lesnar
- Intercontinental Title: Ryback (c) vs. Big Show vs. The Miz
- WWE Tag-Titles: Prime Time Players (c) vs. The New Day
- United States Title: John Cena (c) vs. Kevin Owens
- Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns
WrestleZone is reporting that the outcomes for a number of matches have already been determined. If you don’t want to read possible SPOILERS for WWE Battleground, then you may want to stop reading now.
With Kevin Owens dropping the NXT Championship to Finn Balor at Beast in the East, expect him to go over John Cena clean and win the U.S. Title. It does appear as if Owens is now a full-time main roster addition and will be on it from this point forward.
Even if Owens wins the U.S. Title though, it may not be the end of their feud. Some believe that they will have a fourth and final match at SummerSlam to finish things out.
The Prime Time Players are expected to go over The New Day in the tag match and hold onto their titles a while longer. Ryback is also expected to retain his Intercontinental Title in the three-way dance of a feud that fans have already grown tired of watching.
Two other matches are rumored to be going on the card:
- Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
- WWE Divas Title: Nikki Bella (c) vs. Paige
From this point, Nikki Bella is likely going to still hold onto her title at least until SummerSlam to continue her long title reign. A returning Randy Orton will likely get the win over Sheamus as well.
As for the WWE Title, it may still be up in the air at this time, and the same can be said for Wyatt vs. Reigns. WWE wants to continue building up Roman Reigns after his quick build-up and quick fall, but some think another loss for Wyatt may really hurt him.
It is believed by some that Lesnar will take the WWE Title from Rollins in a beatdown and move on, or The Authority may interfere to have things continue until SummerSlam for another match. At that point, Lesnar would win the WWE Title back.
For now, the spoilers and rumors for WWE Battleground are intriguing, but a lot can change in the next two weeks. All that everyone thinks they know may end up being nothing if WWE changes their minds.
