Celebrate Independence Day With ‘GTA V,’ Special Online Event Brings Back Limited-Time Items

Ahead of this weekend’s official holiday celebration, Grand Theft Auto V players will be able to enjoy special online festivities. Rockstar Games has announced that from now through July 4, gamers can enjoy several extra surprises within GTA V thanks to the launch of the Independence Day event.

“No matter where you’re from, you can celebrate American grandiosity and pageantry in Los Santos and Blaine County this week, with Double GTA$ and RP in Grand Theft Auto Online starting today and lasting through the entire July 4th holiday weekend (July 1st – July 6th). “

This week’s GTA V holiday event rewards players with double cash and RP payouts. While past events usually only applied these bonuses to a select number of missions, the current bonus features twice the normal amounts of rewards across every job. In addition to receiving double experience and cash as part of the Grand Theft Auto V‘s Independence Day celebration, fans of the open-world crime title will also be able to pick up a selection of seasonal items that will be available for a limited time only. These themed unlocks, including monster trucks and firework launchers, are returning from last year’s GTA Online summer event and can now be picked up for a discounted price.

“To help laud the occasion, merchants across Los Santos are also restocking all their original Independence Day Special inventory, with a 25% discount on everything, including vehicles like The Liberator monster truck and Sovereign motorcycle, the Firework Rocket Launcher and its ammo, plus an assortment of red-white-and-blue gear including Hats, T-Shirts, Masks and more.”

Rockstar Games reminded users that they can take advantage of this weekend’s bonus cash event to save up for the next high-end items that will be introduced in the upcoming GTA V DLC. As detailed earlier this week, the “Ill-Gotten Gains Update: Part Two” will add an assortment of new expensive vehicles, weapons, and clothing for players to collect within Grand Theft Auto V. The add-on officially launches next week and will be available across all platforms for free. Rockstar hopes that the Independence Day event will give users an influx of cash so they might be able to pick up some of the new content.

“Bulk up your bank balance in advance of the upcoming ILL-GOTTEN GAINS Update: Part Two with 2X GTA$ in the Independence Day Online Event Playlist.”
