TNA News: TNA Spoils Multiple Title Changes With Early ‘Impact Wrestling’ Tapings, ‘Slammiversary’ Awkward To See?

TNA Wrestling has been known to do some weird things over the years, but one major problem the company has had for some time is their huge taping schedule. This has helped financially, as they get multiple shows out of the way and can manage to save money by not having to fly people in from all over the place every week. While it does make sense, in today’s world, this kind of thing hurts more than it helps. Spoilers give surprises away, which is why WWE tries to stay live for its flagship show known as WWE RAW.

Years ago, WCW chief Eric Bischoff would give away RAW taping results when WWE taped two shows back to back at each city to save money. The most infamous one of these was the night Mick Foley won the WWE Championship against The Rock. WCW gave away the results, and people changed the channel. WCW never won in ratings again. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon realized the surprise was lost with a taped RAW, so he ended up eventually doing a live show every week.

TNA used to tape things for a small bit, and at one point went live weekly. Since having financial issues, TNA decided to go the tape route, but it has caused more harm than good. TNA does a live show every once in a while. Typically they would do so with big events or the first day of tapings. Sadly, they also tape around live shows. For example, TNA Slammiversary happens this weekend.

However, TNA taped shows that are set to air after the show. This means that things are pretty much given away on the show and some awkwardness will be present. TNA didn’t want things to be too weird, so they don’t have a ton of title matches featured on Slammiversary. However, they do have a bunch set for TV. Basically, TNA is putting more on their Impact Wrestling TV show rather than their PPV. Normally, TV sets up PPV.

Wolves tag titles

Basically, three title changes happened on Impact Wrestling that will take place over the next few weeks. For those who do not want that spoiled, look away now.

The TNA Knockouts Championship was won by Brooke. This was done probably to add to Taryn Terrell’s story. She has been champ for so long that another person needed to win it to help push the storyline forward.

The TNA Tag Titles were won by The Dirty Heels in an Ironman tag team match over The American Wolves. This was most likely done to help keep Austin Aries, whose contract comes up very soon with TNA. He does not plan to stay as of this writing.

The TNA World Championship also changed hands when Ethan Carter III won the title from Kurt Angle. EC3 has been worthy of this title win for some time, but there is no telling how long he’ll have it.

The sad part is that there is a stipulation match between Davey Richards and Austin Aries set to take place at Slammiversary. There is a stipulation in this match where the winner gets to choose the type of match the teams will have for their fifth match in their Best of Series. Since we already know the winner and match for the tag titles, it kind of makes this match unworthy of our time.

On top of all of this, since none of the titles change hands until later, the former champions will all walk in with their titles at Slammiversary. If this is not weird for TNA fans, I don’t know what is.
