Jill Duggar And Derick Dillard Prepared For Life After ’19 Kids And Counting’ With New Company

Jill Duggar and her family members have used their TLC reality series, 19 Kids and Counting, as a platform to share their Christian beliefs with the world. However, because the Duggar family’s show is in serious danger of being cancelled for good, Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, have devised a backup plan that will help them spread the good word with or without their show.

According to Radar Online, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard recently filed to incorporate a new nonprofit business called Dillard Family Ministries. Radar speculates that the Dillards are trying to distance themselves from Jill’s family in the wake of the Josh Duggar molestation scandal, and the couple’s decision to start their own company could be a sign that they already know that their careers as reality show stars are already over. The Arkansas Secretary of State lists Dillard Family Ministries’ date of incorporation as June 17, so perhaps Jill and Derick started their company in direct response to the news that 19 Kids and Counting has been cancelled. If TLC did decide to can the show already, obviously the Duggar family would be given fair notice before the network shared this news with the rest of the world.

However, it’s possible that Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard were planning on starting their own company long before the Josh Duggar molestation scandal threatened the future of 19 Kids and Counting. As the Inquistir previously reported, a sneak peek of the upcoming season of 19 Kids showed Jill and Derick telling the family that they had some “special news” to share. The teaser didn’t reveal the rest of the couple’s announcement, so there’s been a lot of speculation about what it was. A source told the Daily Mail that Derick and Jill were informing the family that they were heading to Nepal for a mission trip, but so far it looks like the couple is still at home in Arkansas. Perhaps Jill and Derick were really letting the Duggar family know that they were working on starting their own business.

If Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar’s “special news” was their plan to birth a ministry business, this means that this isn’t a new pursuit — they’ve been working on it for weeks, if not longer. However, a source told Radar that Derick and Jill’s main reason for setting up the company was to have a backup plan in place just in case they lose the money/ministry opportunity provided to them by 19 Kids and Counting.

“This new ministry is their ‘Plan B’ now that it’s unlikely their reality show will be coming back,” the source said.

There’s no word on what kind of work Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard will be doing, but hopefully they’re positive that their nonprofit ministry business is going to be profitable — Derick has already quit his job as a tax accountant for Walmart.

On the Arkansas Secretary of State website, Jill and Derick are listed as directors of Dillard Family Ministries, and the company’s “Incorporator/Organizer” is listed as Charles Chadwick Gallagher. According to CNN, Gallagher is a longtime adviser of GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee. The Duggars reportedly hired him as a P.R. expert to help them deal with the aftermath of the Josh Duggar molestation scandal.

What do you think of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s new business venture? Did Derick make a mistake by leaving his job?
