No More Pip-Boys: ‘Fallout 4’ Pip-Boy Edition Pre-Orders Sold Out

Did you miss a chance to pre-order the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition? Well, now you’ve truly missed out as Bethesda Softworks confirmed Thursday that the Pip-Boy replica for the containing edition for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC is officially sold out.

The Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Editions first went on sale immediately after their announcement at E3 and sold out quickly. Retailers have been making more available for pre-order over the past week. Bethesda Marketing Vice President Pete Hines responded to fans questions on Twitter about if any more of the collector’s editions would be sold. His answer won’t make those who missed out happy.

Hines went on to explain that Bethesda had already gone back to the manufacturer of the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition to request more units be produced. However, the producers eventually had to tell them no more.

It appears to be completely sold out in North America. Tweets from Hines make it sound as though some European retailers have not received their allotment from the latest wave, however.

It can be difficult to tell which special edition versions of a game are going to be a hot seller and which are not, as I discussed in an article about whether to pre-order games or not. For example, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Collector’s Edition with the dragon statue looked like it may have been one to sell out when it was first announced. However, I was able to find one months after release for less than half the original $150 asking price. Alduin has proudly sat on my “bookshelf of nerdom” since, along with a Batman: Arkham City statue that I also got at less than half its original price.

Resellers are taking advantage of the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition being such a hot commodity. There are around 20 listings on eBay with prices ranging from $200 to over $500 already, and you should expect that number to increase as we get closer to the game’s November 10 release date.
