Josh & Anna Duggar Continue To Avoid Addressing Sex Scandal

Although Josh and Anna Duggar recently released a video in which the couple wished Jim Bob Duggar a Happy Father’s Day, the pair has yet to directly address the scandal that has rocked the entire Duggar family. However, as a report from The Stir notes, Josh indirectly alludes to the scandal when he thanks Jim Bob for being there during “the hard times.”

Some may believe that a couple who decides to have 19 children in these difficult times must have something wrong with their heads, but when you know that one of your children is a child molester and decide to keep it hidden, this definitely goes beyond madness.

The Duggar family, stars of the TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, have remained mostly silent after it was revealed that Josh Duggar molested his own sisters years ago.

The whole mess began with a report from InTouch magazine, which claimed that Josh was under investigation in 2006 after allegedly molesting five children. Reportedly, the molestation occurred over 10 years ago and Josh Duggar recently apologized for the despicable acts of sexual abuse.

“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends.”

Although Anna Duggar supports her husband and stands by his side, many 19 Kids and Counting fans were outraged. Anna released the following statement regarding the scandal.

“I can imagine the shock many of you are going through reading this. I remember feeling that same shock.”

“When my family and I first visited the Duggar home, Josh shared his past teenage mistakes. I was surprised at his openness and humility and at the same time didn’t know why he was sharing it. For Josh, he wanted not just me but my parents to know who he really was – even every difficult past mistakes.”

“He continued to do what he was taught. [I know] who Josh really is – someone who had gone down a wrong path and had humbled himself before God and those whom he had offended. Someone who had received the help needed to change the direction of his life and do what is right.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Josh’s parents, were interviewed by FOX News‘ Megyn Kelly. In the interview, Jim Bob and Michelle talked about how they felt after they learned of their son’s actions.

“There was so much grief in our hearts. I think as parents we felt, ‘We’re failures.’ Here we tried to raise our kids to do what’s right, to know what’s right and yet one of our children made some really bad choices, and I think as a parent we were really devastated.”
