Darksiders II Won’t Release Until It’s “Perfect,” THQ Says

With all of the talk at THQ about games being canceled, games being repurposed, and job cuts at developer Vigil Games and throughout THQ, it would be easy to wonder if Darksiders II will still be making its intended June release date.

In an interview with RipTen, THQ’s Danny Bilson suggested that Darksiders II was still on track to meet its June 26 release date, but that Vigil Games and THQ would be willing to delay the game if they felt it needed more polish.

“Darksiders II is looking really, really good,” Bilson told RipTen. “It’s a huge game. It looks like… I don’t want to give the exact amount of hours of gameplay… but it’s a very, very lengthy and involved campaign. We’re going to give that team everything they need to make it as good as it can be.”

Bilson wasn’t willing to confirm whether or not Darksiders IIwould see a delay when pressed further on the matter, but he did address the recent layoffs at Vigil Games, and how it has affected–or, in this case, hasn’t affected–development of the game.

“The workforce was reduced and the people that… of course, whenever a studio does that, they will retain the best people and the best talent, no matter what team they were on. The team is still… it’s a pretty large team in there right now. Close to 100 people.”

For now, Darksiders II is still on track to release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 26.
