Witney Carson Of ‘DWTS’ Says Chris Soules Is What The Show Is About

Witney Carson is one of the newer pros on Dancing with the Stars, but she already has one Mirrorball trophy and one Bachelor partner under her belt. Carson won Season 19 of DWTS when she was paired with former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro. She returned with another ABC reality show favorite, Chris Soules, who did not have the natural dancing skill of Alfonso but was still a hit with fans.

Sunday night, Carson again crosses paths with the Bachelor franchise when she and other DWTS pros compete on Celebrity Family Feud. Earlier this week, she spoke with Glamour blogger Jessica Radloff and revealed that Chris Soules is what the dancing show is all about: seeing an amateur progress over several weeks of hard work and practice.

“It was a really challenging season, especially coming [off of] Alfonso’s [season], who’s just so naturally…he just has it. So with Chris it was definitely challenging, but I was talking to someone about this yesterday and it has only been my most rewarding season because I really could see the progression in Chris every single week. As a teacher, that’s something that we look at in a student. The fact that we made it to the quarterfinals, and he had no dance experience…I feel like Chris is what the show is about. He is the show.”

Although Carson said she has not really spoken with Soules since he moved back to Iowa, she welcomes his participation on her current Dancing with the Stars tour. They do have a stop in Davenport, Iowa.

Although Carson now describes her season with Chris Soules as “rewarding,” it did not come easily for her or the farmer and reality star. People reported on the stars’ spats as Soules tried to learn the steps Carson was trying to teach. She told the cameras Soules’ frustration made her feel like she was not a good coach.

Dancing with the Stars started its season immediately after The Bachelor wrapped up and Soules had proposed to Whitney Bischoff. Bischoff was in the audience for many of the early DWTS episodes, but she eventually stopped coming. The couple insisted their Bachelor romance was not on the rocks. However, they announced the cancellation of their engagement soon after Soules left DWTS.

Celebrity Family Feud, which features Carson and her teammates facing off against Kaitlyn Bristowe, Sean Lowe, and Jason Mesnick of The Bachelor / Bachelorette, airs Sunday night on ABC.
