WWE News: ‘John Cena Vs. Kevin Owens III’ Not Taking Place Until WWE SummerSlam?

With Brock Lesnar coming back to WWE programming, it looks like the Seth Rollins/Brock Lesnar feud will get the best treatment and most attention by WWE fans. Prior to Monday’s WWE Raw, John Cena and Kevin Owens have stolen the show at Elimination Chamber, Money in the Bank, and each episode of WWE Raw in between.

WWE outlets across the world are calling their last match at Money in the Bank a “match of the year” candidate. After their performance, that’s not out of the realm of possibility. John Cena may be the best of his era and Kevin Owens might be the best of the next era.

Whatever the case may be, Owens and Cena have excellent chemistry and know how to garner reactions from the WWE Universe. On WWE Raw, Kevin Owens nearly created the top moment of the night by landing the powerbomb on Machine Gun Kelly, Raw’s guest host, off the stage.

Without John Cena on WWE TV, their feud stood still while Owens nailed another great promo. When will the trilogy commence between the two combatants? According to CageSide Seats, the match might not take place at WWE Battleground.

“It looks possible WWE may hold off on doing the third Kevin Owens vs. John Cena match until SummerSlam.”

Does a match with this magnitude deserve to wait until WWE SummerSlam? WWE might be making the right decision in this case and making the bout a “must-see” event. After the appropriate number of weeks and appearances, non-WWE NXT viewers are starting to realize who Kevin Owens is.

Before his debut, only the Indy wrestling and WWE NXT fans knew who Owens was. He was world-famous, especially due to his Ring of Honor days, but the casual-WWE fan didn’t know who the current-NXT champion was.

In Michael Cole’s weekly interview on WWE, he talked to Kevin Owens. Owens seemed very confident that he will take the United States champion from John Cena in their next encounter. Whether that will be at WWE Battleground or SummerSlam, they have a lot to live up to after their two epic battles in the last month.

What does Kevin Owens’ future mean for Finn Balor or Samoa Joe? If Owens does defeat John Cena for the United States championship, will the U.S. Open challenge then commence? WWE fans wanted Balor to debut and take the U.S. title from Cena on WWE Raw, or even at a pay-per-view. Now, Owens might steal the show.
