‘Married At First Sight’ Split: Does Falling In Love On Television Really Work?

One Married at First Sight couple split at the end of Season 2 of the reality show, and that is not a big shocker. Reality TV has proven repeatedly that falling in love in front of the cameras does not work most of the time. Fans of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are all too familiar with their favorite couples splitting within months of the season finale.

For example, Chris Soules, the last man on The Bachelor, has already split from Whitney Bischoff. The finale for his season aired just in March. According to Reality TV World, Chris’ appearance on Dancing with the Stars hurt the couple’s relationship. Whitney stayed in Chicago to work while Chris worked 12 hours a day with his dancing pro. An insider revealed that Whitney was bothered because she “shared him with other women on The Bachelor, then had to share him again.”

Chris Harrison is not a fan of Chris Soules either. He appeared on The Meredith Viera Show, and Chris said he would never want Soules to date his daughter, according to Hollywood Life.

“I mean, Chris, I love you, he’s a good friend and I love the guy, but stay away from my daughter.”

On Married at First Sight, three couples meet on their wedding day, and they spend six weeks together as a couple. They go on a honeymoon, move in together, and celebrate special days together as husband and wife. At the end of the six-week experiment, the couple must decide if they want to stay together or split.

During Season 2 of the FYI Network series, two couples decided to stay together, and one couple decided to end their marriage and get a divorce, according to Zap2It. Davina Kullar and Sean Varricchio decided to end things, and they have not spoken to each other much since the end of their relationship six months ago.

However, the couple did speak about the decision to split with the New York Post. Davina Kullar shared a bit about her relationship with the news outlet.

“I don’t think the real Sean, the genuine Sean ever really showed up. I can’t say that I really know who I was married to. I didn’t have a connection at all with him.”

Sean shared even more details about their relationship and the work that went into finding him a match behind the scenes.

“Things were tense. I was constantly walking on eggshells, where it definitely became difficult to see how we could grow a relationship. I think the experts, they gave it their all to match me with someone who was compatible with me, but love is not an exact science, neither is dating, matchmaking or anything of that nature. Until you really meet somebody and you try to build chemistry, you really don’t know. I’m willing to compromise on so many things as long as someone’s willing to compromise a little bit with me and I didn’t feel that at times. She came to Jersey a total of three or four times. She didn’t appear to be all that comfortable being here, but I wasn’t all that comfortable in Manhattan.”

The location disagreement caused major problems for the couple. In the end, the pair split. Fans will learn more from Davina and Sean on the reunion special that is set for Tuesday night.

Married at First Sight has seen some success. One couple from Season 1 is still married. Doug Hehner and Jamie Otis married last season, and the pair decided to stay together at the end of the six weeks.

Their relationship had issues. Jamie knew she was not in love with her husband when the cameras stopped following them. She was honest about her feelings, and she learned he did not love her then either. After the confessions, the couple started to fall in love, and they celebrated their one-year anniversary in a big way, according to AOL.com.

The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have had some success stories in recent years too. Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum met on her season of The Bachelorette. ABC televised their wedding in 2012. According to Us Magazine, Ashley is enjoying motherhood and looking great. She showed off her bikini body just five months after giving birth to her and J.P.’s first child.

Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried met on her season of The Bachelorette. According to People Magazine, Desiree and Chris honeymooned in Hawaii after their wedding earlier this year. Desiree moved to Seattle immediately after her engagement went public, and the couple has been happy ever since.

Desiree first appeared on Sean Lowe’s season of The Bachelor. Sean met and fell in love with Catherine Guidici during his season. They married on television in 2014. OK! Magazine reported recently that Sean and Catherine are trying to have a baby. However, a previous Inquisitr report revealed that Sean and Catherine would return to reality television first. The couple will appear on Celebrity Wife Swap, and the couple will swap with another couple from The Bachelor franchise, Jason and Molly Mesnick.

Can falling in love on television work? As with any relationship, there are success stories and failures. Cameras had another element to an already complicated situation. Falling in love is not always easy. For some, falling in love on television may work.
