‘Phineas And Ferb’: Summer Vacation Is Over For The Popular Disney Show
Fans said goodbye to Phineas and Ferb tonight. The popular Disney show ran a one-hour long season finale tonight that ended their epic summer.
Created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, Phineas and Ferb ended their seven-year run with 222 TV episodes and three movies. Povenmire talks about the show ending.
“Animated cartoons don’t usually get to say goodbye. So, we felt like it would be nice to be able to wrap it up. It’s going to play forever on [the] Disney [Channel]. There are so many episodes that by the time you’re done watching all of them; you’ll be ready for the first one again. It was just a nice way to say goodbye.”
The main plot of the show follows the adventures of Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher, who are step-brothers. The two boys are on summer vacation and looking for fun things to do. When Phineas says, “Ferb, I know what we are going to do today,” the brothers begin to create outrageous, and dangerous, devices in order to cure their boredom.
Their older sister, Candace, desperately tries to “bust” her brothers by getting their mom to catch the boys in the act of whatever project they are working on. By the time Candace gets their mom in a position to see what the boys are up to, something happens to make the brother’s inventions disappear. When she is not trying to get the boys in trouble, she swoons over a boy named Jeremy.
The secondary plot of Phineas and Ferb deals with the never-ending battle between Perry “Agent P” the Platypus and Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. Doofenshmirtz wants nothing more than to conquer the tri-state area, which is where the show takes place. He invents intricate devices to achieve his goal. These devices all end with the word “inator.” His plan is always foiled by an agent from the O.W.C.A. (Organization Without a Cool Acronym). His arch enemy is Perry “Agent P” the Platypus.
Around his family, Perry is a mild-mannered platypus. Perry turns into Agent P by putting on a hat and quickly finding the secret entrance to the O.W.C.A. in order to get his assignment. Perry gets briefed by Major Monogram in regard to what Doofenshmirtz is planning. While trying to stop Doofenshmirtz from achieving his goal, Perry is always trapped by Doofenshmirtz when Perry barges into his lab. Perry always escapes and is able to complete his mission.
The two plots of the show come together at the end when Doofenshmirtz’s “inator” is either broken or malfunctions. The “inator” only destroys the project that Phineas and Ferb were working on.
A popular part of Phineas and Ferb is the musical numbers that are in almost every episode.
