Mama June In The Hot Seat Again: Daughter Anna Sues for $300,000
“Mama June” Shannon, formerly of the hit reality series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, just learned the hard way not to come between her children and their money.
TMZ reports that Anna Cardwell, June’s 20-year-old daughter, filed a lawsuit against Mama June. Mama June and the TLC network claimed that accounts were set up to make sure every cast member of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo received all money owed to them. Not so, says Anna Cardwell. According to Anna, Mama June pocketed some of the money meant for her and her daughter, Kaitlyn, who is a co-plaintiff in the lawsuit. Anna claims that June owes her $200,000 and owes Kaitlyn $100,000.
TLC network was also named in the lawsuit, because according to Cardwell, the network had a duty to protect her and make sure she received proper payment.
This isn’t the first time Anna Cardwell has accused Mama June of stealing her money. In December, 2014, Cardwell told Dr. Phil that Mama June had control of the bank accounts set up for her Here Comes Honey Boo Boo money, because Cardwell was a minor when production of the reality show began. Over the years, June pinched from the accounts, leaving Anna with $17,000 in savings and shrinking her trust fund from $30,000 to $15,000. At that time, Anna Cardwell said she had hired an attorney to get her money back.
Mama June denied stealing the money. Instead, she claims that she’s been giving the money to Anna for living expenses.
“I have never [bought] a car for him and all her money is there… [B]eside the money I have given her to live on — $400 every month and pay her $475 each month for cell phone bills for the last two years. That’s the only money I have taken out of there.”
Mama June and Anna have reportedly been estranged since news broke that June was in contact with Mark McDaniel, an ex-boyfriend convicted of sexually assaulting Anna. Mama June’s association with McDaniel and her ever-changing explanations about the situation led to the cancellation of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. Despite the issues with her mother, Anna attended her sister’s, Jessica’s, high school graduation.
Anna Cardwell’s lawsuit may not be the only thing TLC has to worry about in connection to Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Mama June is threatening to sue TLC over the cancellation. Mama June’s angry that TLC cancelled her show after she associated with a child molester, but 19 Kids and Counting is only on hiatus following news that Josh Duggar molested several children, including his own sisters. Mama June and her lawyer are demanding that TLC put Here Comes Honey Boo Boo back on the air to avoid a lawsuit. According to Extra, TLC was given one week to respond to June’s demands, and that week has come and gone.
So for now at least, it looks like the headache that is Here Comes Honey Boo Boo hasn’t gone away for Mama June or for TLC.
