Bullied Kyemah McEntyre Wins The Internet With Her Homemade Prom Dress

A bullied teenager from New Jersey got the sweetest revenge on her adversaries when she sketched, designed, created and then wore her very own prom dress, which helped to see her crowned as prom queen.

Kyemah McEntyre, who is a senior at Cicely Tyson School of Performing Arts in East Orange, New Jersey, took to her Twitter and Instagram accounts to showcase her immaculate dress.

McEntyre also wrote out a special message to all of the naysayers and anyone who has ever bullied her, too.

McEntyre, who will start studying at Parsons School Of Design in the fall, wrote on her Instagram page, “The most creative people are the ones who step out of their comfort zone and take advantage of the world around them. Being exposed to all kinds of people and cultures is the use for my artwork. Don’t let anyone define you. Beautiful things happen when you take pride in yourself.” The 18-year-old also added that she was to create her dress to showcase her African descent.

Meanwhile, in her attempt to spread news of hew dress across the internet, Kyemah also devised the hashtag #kyebreaktheinternet. And she came perilously close to doing just that, as her friends and other users from across the internet who were mightily impressed with her efforts started sharing images and messages of McEntyre’s work.

And quite rightly, after working so hard on her dress and stunning the world with its elegance and beauty, Kyemah McEntyre was crowned the prom queen at her school’s end of year ceremony, and she admitted that she was “beyond grateful” to have received such an honor.
