‘Ducks’ Star Abuse: Jep Robertson Admits He Suffered Sexual Abuse When He Was 6

Ducks star Jep Robertson has come forward about abuse he suffered when he was 6-years old.

According to the New York Daily News, the Duck Dynasty star, now 37, revealed the traumatic experience in his new book, The Good, The Bad, and the Grace of God: What Honesty and Pain Taught Us About Faith, Family, and Forgiveness.

He recalled every detail that he could remember.

“An older girl started sitting next to me. She seemed sweet at first. She’d come sit beside me, like a motherly figure almost. I remember her being sweet and taking care of me. I liked to sit in the back so she’d come sit with me. After a while the girl started doing strange things. She’d take my hands and push them up under her shirt and tell me I was tickling her. Then she started making me pull down my pants. It was awkward. I didn’t know what was going on, but I knew something wasn’t right.”

The Ducks star’s abuse may be coming to light now because of the recent scandal involving 19 Kids And Counting star, Josh Duggar. Although their situations were different (Jep was the victim, Josh was the abuser), Jep can totally relate to what the Duggars are going through.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Josh is getting some support from Jep. The Duck Dynasty star is sharing his experience, and what has worked for him and his family as a way to offer his help to the Duggars during this trying time.

As a father of three daughters, Jep says that his past experience with sex abuse has actually helped him. He explained that he’s used this to help him in his every day life, telling Entertainment Tonight that he learned a lesson from all of this, turning it into something that he can use.

“I know it sounds weird but it’s helped me now that I have a bunch of girls. I think it helps us really communicate with them on what’s right and what’s wrong — where you should be touched or not be touched. It’s a tough thing to go through, but you just kind of live and go through it and make the most of it.”

The Ducks star’s abuse incident was buried for many years, but Jep thanks his wife, Jessica, for letting him open up about it. According to Us Weekly, Jep says that he was embarrassed about what happened to him, but he’s thankful to have been given a platform to talk about it, and to be able to move forward.

As far as the Duggars go, it’s not going to be an easy road ahead, but Jep and his wife believe that the 19 Kids And Counting stars will get there.

“At some point I think you got to get a tough skin and no matter what anybody says about you, you just got to be like, ‘We’re just going to keep doing what we do,'” Jep said.

“I think that’s what they’re doing. I think they’re staying close-knit and I think they’ll be fine, but it’ll be a long road,” added Jessica.
