Mohammad El-Akkari Scores 113 Points In Single FIBA Game, Hits 32 Three-Pointers

Mohammed El-Akkari has averaged 7.3 points during his last 23 games in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). But last night, he scored 113.

El-Akkari, who plays for the Tripoli basketball team Mouttahed, reportedly hit 40-of-69 during his teams 173-141 win against Bejjeh and 32 of El-Akkari’s baskets came from behind the arc.

Unfortunately there is no video of the game.

After his remarkable performance, Akkari said:

“Thank God for this performance. I think it’s all a result of my practice… I also want to thank my coach for letting me play that long and all my teammates for helping.”

Austin Johnson, one of Akkari’s teammates, said:

“He was awesome tonight. He starting out shooting the ball very well and just continued to go. Our team realized that he was on fire so we kept feeding him the ball. Congrats to Akkari on a record-setting night. He deserves it from the way he works and stays focused.”

ESPN reports that this is the first time a player has scored more than 100 points in an official FIBA Asia National Federations game.

FIBAasia.net reports that two players have scored 100 point games in Asia. Lou Salvador scored 116 in the 1923 Far Eastern Games and Jeron Teng scored 104 in a high schoool game in the Philippines.

Moutahed coach Ahmad Fadel said:

“He’s a phenomenal but very underrated shooter. He puts in a lot of hard work in practice. I am not surprised.
