Shifty Shellshock of Band Crazy Town in a Coma, is Unresponsive

Shifty Shellshock, real name Seth Binzer and lead singer of the band Crazy Town, is currently in an “unresponsive state” in an undisclosed Los Angeles hospital, and it is rumored that the singer’s illness is due to drug-related causes.

Binzer was perhaps best known during the band’s early 00’s success with the song “Butterfly,” but the years since the song hit it big have been somewhat tumultuous. (Another member of Crazy Town was former fiance of Nicole Richie DJ AM Adam Goldstein, who was nearly killed in a plane crash in 2008 and died of an overdose in the summer of 2009.) Binzer has had a few brushes with the law, two this year for cocaine possession and domestic disputes.

Following a February 16th arrest in Los Angeles, Shifty Shellshock was due to appear in court later this week to answer the charges. But TMZ learned that the Crazy Town star has been in a coma since March 29th, and is reportedly unresponsive. The site seems to insinuate that the singer was very stressed out about being sent to jail following his arrest, explaining:

“According to sources, the former Crazy Town singer has been in the ICU since last Thursday and is completely unresponsive. It’s unclear what put him there — but people close to him believe it was drug-related… Shifty is scheduled to appear in court this week for a pre-trial hearing — after his February coke arrest. We’re told he was extremely anxious about the possibility of going to jail.”

In the years following his major successes in the early part of the decade, Shifty Shellshock did several stints on Celebrity Rehab in an attempt to kick a crack addiction.
