WWE News: Potential Shield Reunion Led To Wyatt Family Reunion Being Nixed?

Fans have thought for some time that WWE would eventually reunite The Wyatt Family. It seemed obvious that Bray Wyatt would bring his brothers back when he “released” them beforehand, but never fully cut ties. When WWE reformed Erick Rowan and Luke Harper as a tag-team, it led to many assuming that they would eventually return to Bray and rule over the WWE as they did before. The issue is that this never happened. People wanted to know why, and we might finally know the reason.

WWE originally planned to bring back The Shield.

According to Daily Wrestling News, WWE wanted to bring back the infamous trio of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose around this time. Obviously, it looks like this is not going to happen, but the damage was already done, it seems. The idea was that if WWE wanted to bring back The Shield, they couldn’t bring back the Wyatts at the same time. This makes sense, in theory.

What does not is that The Shield doesn’t seem to be reuniting, so what is stopping WWE from bringing The Wyatt Family back now? Apparently, WWE has other plans for Bray Wyatt and Rowan/Harper. While Rowan and Harper will soon be getting a tag-team push, there is also a plan for them to potentially work with The Dudley Boyz.

Meanwhile, Bray Wyatt is set to be thrown into something big soon, but there is no new information on what WWE is planning for him.

At the end of the day, it seemed that WWE was clearly thinking about reuniting The Shield. It was not known exactly when, but to even make that a possibility, the Wyatts couldn’t return. Then, it appears WWE already had something in place for them all, which led to no one actually reuniting.

WWE could always be thinking about bringing back The Shield still, but it would have to be in a unique way. We saw the tease of it during WWE Payback. However, we saw how it looked like they could work together briefly, but not as the same unit they were before, which is why the reunion didn’t last long. That type of Shield would be interesting, but it wouldn’t feel like the one we all fell in love with. That said, seeing The Shield come back in WWE wouldn’t be something we need to expect soon.
