Airman Disappears: Man Facing Child Sex Abuse Charge Nowhere To Be Found

The hunt is on for the Scott AFB airman who disappeared days before his scheduled court-martial. Both the U.S. Air Force and the man’s family have reached out to the public for help in locating him. The military considers Helm a fugitive — it’s possible that he may be on the run to avoid answering various sex abuse charges.

The 35-year-old airman was due to face multiple charges, including one charge of sexual abuse of a child. But days before David could stand trial for these startling accusations, he simply vanished.

According to Air Force officials, Helm was last spotted on the Scott Air Force Base in Illinois on May 29. The airman reportedly told friends that he intended to pay a visit to his parents in La Follette, Tennessee. His parents say that he never arrived at their home as planned.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations confirmed that David faced trial by court-martial on June 8 to answer sex abuse allegations. The USAF released no additional information about the nature of the charges against David Helm.

In addition to the military search, a missing person report was filed for the airman. Unlike the Air Force, his friends and family do not think that the airman willingly disappeared. Instead, they fear that Helm’s life may be in danger.

That’s not a ridiculous conclusion to leap to given the nature of the charges against David. It’s not unheard of for persons convicted or accused of sex abuse charges, particularly where children are involved, to have their lives threatened.

For instance, the Inquisitr reported on the abuse and torture of a convicted child killer. In Florida, the father of a molested boy beat his son’s molester “to a pulp.” In various instances, there is a very hostile view of sexual prejudice, and the desire for justice against them often includes harsh criminal punishments and possibly violent retribution.

It’s not known what has become of the airman who disappeared, but members of the public are asked to come forward if they have any information about his whereabouts.

David Helm is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. His height is 5-foot-7, and he weighs approximately 180 lbs. The airman owns a black Yamaha Fz8 motorcycle (the bike’s Illinois license plate number is DM2809).

Anyone with information relevant to Helm’s disappearance is asked to call 1-877-246-1453.
