Abby Lee Miller Shares Weight Loss Size 24 To 16 Secret: How Did ‘Dance Moms’ Star Lose The Pounds?

Abby Lee Miller shared the weight loss secret that took her from a size 24 to a size 16 in a new interview. According to People Magazine, the star of Dance Moms did not diet or exercise to lose the pounds. She had a rough year, and a number of incidents caused her to eat less. It was eating less and living her normally busy life that took the pounds off.

She began to lose the weight shortly after doctors diagnosed her mother with colon cancer. Miller found her time spent in the hospital with her mother, and she admitted, “Hospital food just makes you sick. I think it was a little bit mental with me.”

After her mother’s death in 2014, she was filming episodes of Dance Moms in a studio without air conditioning. She revealed that no one was eating much because of the extreme heat. She said it was “hot as hell” in the studio.

However, the biggest cause of her weight loss was her own health issues. Doctors diagnosed her as diabetic, and she was put on medication for it. She ran out of her pills during her trip to Australia last summer though. She was in that country filming episodes for the Dance Moms at the time.

“I had to get a prescription refilled – lo and behold, there’s something different about that prescription in Australia. I would take this medicine and within an hour, I was vomiting like I was in fourth grade and had the flu or like I had food poisoning. It was awful. After I would throw up, I couldn’t even look at food for the rest of the day. So that is how I lost the weight. There’s no diet, there’s no exercise, there’s no this, there’s no that.”

On social media, fans of Abby Lee Miller have showed their support of her weight loss.

However, some are not a fan of the “unhealthy” way that Miller lost the pounds. According to She Knows Entertainment, several comments on the People Magazine report condemned Abby Lee Miller for the way she lost the weight.

One commenter said, “I’m sorry, I just don’t believe that! That is a LOT of weight to lose from stress and few weeks/days of puking? Does she really believe everyone is that dumb? I don’t believe you can lose 4, count them FOUR dress sizes from the reasons she gave. I mean, come on, why not just own up to what you did, who cares, but why lie, why?”

Another commenter attacked Miller personally, “So…you were sad, then you were hot and then you took medication that made you vomit? No…no gimmick diet here! Just a good old fashioned, adolescent starvation diet. Congratulations…you’re an idiot! Oh and you’ll be fat again in a year unless you start eating real food and exercising.”

Abby Lee knows she has more work to do. She has lost some weight, but she has more that she wants to lose.

Right now, she is busy with the opening of her new Los Angeles based dance studio. She opened the Abby Lee Dance Company Los Angeles in Santa Monica, California, on May 30. At the opening, she spoke with the press about her reality series. She was asked about the possibility of a sixth season for Dance Moms.

“The kids weren’t really cast on the show. Their mothers were. The kids kind of came along like a free ride. They’ve been a free ride for five years. People ask us about a Season 6? Will there be a Season 6? Do you want to do a Season 6? What’s happening with Season 6? That’s a huge honor, an amazing honor to be on a television show that continues for six seasons. When we talk about Season 6, we have to remember that these kids…. made 1k per episode.”

The dancers featured on the show now make $2k an episode. That started with Dance Moms Season 5. The season wrapped production on May 30 with a competition in Lancaster, according to International Business Times.

The mid-season finale for Dance Moms Season 5 aired on May 26. According to a previous Inquisitir report, the series will return to Lifetime with the second half of the season on June 9.

During the opening of her new studio, she revealed more about the history of Dance Moms. Abby Lee Miller was never supposed to be featured on the series. However, during the filming of the first episode that changed. Miller shared how she was signed for the reality series, according to Reality Tea.

“I wasn’t supposed to be on the show – I was just a choreographer. After they filmed episode one, the associate producer came in and suddenly I found myself in front of the camera. At the first competition – first episode – someone put a pen in my hand and said you have to sign this or we can’t shoot. I signed a contract for $1,500 an episode, for four years.”

Now, Abby Lee Miller is looking ahead to Season 6 of the series. The issue of People Magazine featuring her interview will hit store shelves on Friday. What do you think of her weight loss story?
