Taylor Swift’s Pal Ellie Goulding Deletes Photo of Her Antics With Katy Perry
Ellie Goulding has been assimilated into the burgeoning Borg of the Taylor Swift/Katy Perry feud. As previously reported by Inquisitr, the pop songstress – who is uber-pals with Taylor Swift – posted a pic on Instagram over the weekend of herself partying with Swift’s arch-nemesis Katy Perry. Lorde, another longstanding stalwart of the Swift camp, was prominently featured in the photo, too. Hard cheese, Swifties.
Both Goulding and Lorde tried to explain away the flap on Twitter after the pic went viral, implying that they were too soused to remember what was what and when the photo was snapped, filtered, captioned, and posted online. Ellie Goulding later deleted the photo from her Instagram account. But therein lies the proverbial “rub.” If the last decade or so of Maury, Jerry Springer, and Steve Wilkos episodes have taught us anything, it’s that once something is out there in cyberspace, it doesn’t go away.
The original post was shared, favorited, and commented upon before Ellie Goulding tried chucking it into the memory hole shortly after posting it. For her part, Lorde deleted it from her page, too. But since then, cached and re-posted versions have popped up pretty much everywhere. In fact, there’s even one in this article. Boom.
So, what’s the big deal? Well, Swift’s rivalry with Perry has been the stuff of a star watcher’s wildest, most salacious dreams. From Katy Perry’s on again/off again romance with Taylor’s ex-beau John Mayer to Taylor Swift’s list of grievances in a Rolling Stone interview, the two have been publicly poking at one another for some time now.
For what it’s worth, Hollywood Life isn’t too surprised at Lorde’s role in the Instagate dust-up. The online rumor repository has reported that Swift’s friendship with the New Zealand diva hit a rough spot not long ago when Lorde turned down an invitation to cut a track with the “Shake It Off” singer. Lorde also didn’t appear in the “Bad Blood” video although a coterie of Swift’s other super friends did make the scene.
Indeed, as happy as Katy looks in her pic with the sister Swifties, the present flap could easily serve as the sweet revenge so many folks anticipated when Taylor skewered her in her epic “Bad Blood” video.
If Ellie Goulding is privately sweating an imminent exile from the Swiftie Squad, she’s not showing it on social media. Determined to stay on the Instagram horse, she recently posted a pic of herself supporting a formidable diamond ring and a curious countenance to boot.

Goulding is also going to be the cover model for the next issue of Elle, as revealed in a tweet by the magazine earlier today.

While detractors might level criticism for Goulding over her recent camero in the ongoing Taylor Swift/Katy Perry row, it’s clear that 28 year-old superstar isn’t about to become a casualty of a celebrity feud anytime soon. In that respect, perhaps Ellie Goulding deserves props for living life on her own terms and staying above the fray.
