NBA Rumors: Kevin Love To Stay With Cleveland Cavaliers For 2015-16 NBA Season
NBA rumors now state Kevin Love will stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers. As the Cavaliers prepare for the NBA Finals, Love gave some pretty succinct comments to the press on Sunday (May 31). This might just end the various rumors that had been floating around about Love possibly wanting to leave the Cavaliers during the NBA offseason. Michael Lee of the Washington Post reported on the comments from Love, giving Cleveland fans something specific to cling to for now.

This is big news for the Cavaliers, especially with so many other NBA rumors about where Love could possibly play during the 2015-16 season. There had been chatter that the Los Angeles Lakers would pursue him if he decided to opt out of his current contract, and that the New York Knicks could come calling, as well. It seems, though, that Love has become more enamored with the prospect of continuing to share the court with LeBron James. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the team is about to play in the 2015 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
Love is currently playing in the last official year of his current contract. He has made just under $16 million with the Cleveland Cavaliers and has a player option for about $16.7 million for the 2015-16 NBA season. He might decide to accept the option or decline it in order to get a new deal from the Cavaliers. The smart move would be for him to opt out and get a new two-year deal that includes another player option. That way, when the collective bargaining agreement is altered, he could stand to make a lot of money during the 2016 NBA offseason.
As previously reported on the Inquisitr, Kevin Love hurt his shoulder in the first-round of the NBA Playoffs. It is an injury that will cause him to miss the entire postseason, leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers a bit shorthanded. LeBron James has basically carried the team since then, with Kyrie Irving also providing a lot of leadership on the court. It might show some fans that the team could do it without the services of Love, but he is an All-Star power forward who was just figuring out how to play with James. There are going to be many more NBA rumors about what the future holds for Love this offseason, but he is now on record stating he wants to remain with the Cavaliers.
