‘Skulls Of The Shogun’ Leads The New PlayStation Games For The Week Of May 31

PlayStation may not have a major AAA title releasing this week, but indie gem Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition is loosed from its Microsoft chains this week as it leads the new PlayStation games for the week of May 31, 2015. Along with Wander, indie games are once again the showcase as Sony continues to deliver a steady stream of content for all three of its active consoles.

Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition is the first title from indie studio 17-Bit, founded by Jake Kazdal, formerly of Sega Japan. The game was a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360 Arcade and Windows Phone platforms. This Bone-A-Fide Edition of the turn-based tactics game features the original campaign and multiplayer modes along with a new four chapter episode, the trickster Tanunki Monk unit, and new multiplayer maps. The game is new for the PlayStation 4 this week and free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. You can see the full list of PlayStation Plus games for the month of June on the Inquisitr here.

Wander is the maverick MMO debuting this week for PlayStation 4, but it comes with a unique hook: there is no combat in Wander. MMOs are traditionally based around the grind of combat, endless quests, and raids that reward the dedicated masses with gear fit for their rank. Wander eschews this in favor of tranquility and cooperation. Players begin life as a giant tree, which is granted life from a rare flower. Gamers will find new forms opened to them such as a griffin, an amphibian, and so on. The idea is to explore and discover the storyline with others without having to worry about competitive goals or endless quests.

Other new PlayStation games of note include the release of Renegade. Originally released in 1986 to arcades, the title was the touchstone for the brawler games that followed, most notably Double Dragon. Renegade follows the simple story of Mr. K, a vigilante who traverses a subway platform, a harbor, an alley, a parking lot, and finally the hideout of a gang on a quest to save his girlfriend. Renegade is another entry into the Arcade Archives for PlayStation from Nippon Ichi Software, which has an extensive back catalog of games.

Rounding out the list of new PlayStation games includes JRPG Class of Heroes 2G, indie title The Escapists, Sparkle Unleashed, and Super Exploding Zoo.
