Jaden Smith: Publicity Hungry Teen Wears A Dress To Amandla Stenberg’s Prom
Jaden Smith is an actor, singer, fashion designer, and the 16-year-old-son of actor Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. Jaden is many things, but he is not shy of publicity. Jaden has a passion for fashion, and in recent months, he has been developing more than a passing interest in clothing more traditionally worn by women.
The Daily Mail reports that back in April, Jaden was spotted wearing a long-sleeved “little black dress” paired with a white crocheted top and with cut-off jeans under the ensemble.
Jaden later took to Twitter to post a picture of himself wearing a T-shirt dress seemingly bought from Top Shop. Jaden has since deleted his Twitter account, but the picture was captioned “[W]ent To Top Shop To Buy Some Girl Clothes, I Mean ‘Clothes’.” A few days later, Jaden showed up at the Coachella music festival sporting a floral print mini-dress and with red flowers woven into his dreadlocks.
People Magazine reports that on Friday, May 29, Jaden attended a high school prom with 16-year-old Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg, and once again, Smith showed that he has a liking for ladies clothing.

On this occasion, Jaden showed up in a black-and-white dress with black leggings and a blazer. Smith completed his look with black sneakers and gold fingerless gloves. Jaden wore his deadlocked hair fashionably short and unkempt. Amandela was more conventionally dressed in a long bronze and black dress, but she rocked her look with long black and silver braids and a gold nose ring.
Amandela posted a photograph of herself and Jaden on Instagram and captioned it simply “here’s to high school.”
Yahoo! Celebrity remarked that Jaden’s look for this prom was another slap in the face for convention after Smith took Mecca Kalina to a prom a couple of weeks ago. On that occasion, Smith once again nixed the more traditional tux and rocked up in a white Batman suit complete with a floor length white cape.

You may remember that Smith donned a Batman suit, complete with mask and bat ears, when he attended Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding last year.
Jaden Smith is already becoming well known for his outlandish and unique sense of style as well as for the sometimes rather odd philosophical comments he made on his now-defunct twitter account. Smith certainly gets himself noticed, and Jaden is most definitely no slave to convention.
